Streams School of Ministry celebrates 3rd graduation ceremony

The ceremony was held in the Tsawwassen Longhouse with guest speaker Grand Chief Lynda Prince.

This was the school's largest parent representation so far at a graduation; some came from as far away as Australia, Arkansas, Indiana, and Gibraltar (to name a few) and a large group of local parents – not to mention a large group of our faithful friends and partners.

Lynda explained about the history of our relationship with Tsawwassen First Nation (TFN) and why we were holding the ceremony in the Longhouse. It was very appropriate because most of the guests had never been in a Longhouse before. Protocol gifts were exchanged and TFN honoured each student and staff member by presenting them each with a beautiful piece of jewelry. The TFN understanding that wealth is measured not by what you have, but by what you give away was exemplified that night.

Peer-chosen representatives addressed the audience and gave a brief description of what God had done for them during their time at Streams. Lynda encouraged the students from Psalm 139, and Charlene Jacobs from TFN addressed the parents. She thanked them for sending their children to Streams School of Ministry. She told the parents what a difference their children have made for the people of Tsawwassen and then detailed some of the practical things our students did throughout the year/s for TFN.

As each student came forward to receive their certificate, TFN gift, and blessing, they joined the processional line to bless the next student called forward. So by the end of the certificate presentations, all the students were standing before the crowd and then the school's Director Tyler Schiedel presented the graduating class of 2010. The crowd applauded and stood – it was really a very emotional moment.

God is faithful; He is good all the time. Thank you for your faithful support of this ministry. We could not do what we do without your prayers and financial help.
